Job sites are arranged for students with the blessing of their parents. These are great ways for students to get ready for a real job in the future! Job sites are selected to fit the specific needs of each student.

2nd Semester On-Campus Job: Pierce
Pierce is a great worker and helped out with the janitorial staff at his middle school, so we set him up with an on-campus job with our janitorial staff! For one class period, Pierce will first deliver the mail with classmate, Grant, and then he takes on whatever task is planned for him by the head janitor. He has a list to follow, but occasionally tries out some new projects. Below are some pictures of Pierce at work!
2nd Semester Job Site at Family Fare: Grant and Pierce
Family Fare welcomed us back for a second semester! Pierce and Grant continue to be in charge of the walk-off cart. This cart filled with items discarded by customers at the check-out lane. Pierce and Grant will take a few items at a time and return them to their shelves. The other Family Fare workers now recognize Pierce and Grant and greet them. They are now at the point where they can walk right in and get to work without needing any prompting from me or from other workers.
2nd Semester Job Site at Steenstra's Royal Dutch Bakery: Mykaela and Olivia
Mykaela and Olivia were also welcome back to their first semester job site. They have fallen into more of a routine at Steenstra's. Right away, they bag loaves of bread to go to nearby restaurants and churches. This usually takes them the whole hour because there are so many loaves! It's cool to see how the bakery has given the girls full control of this role, and to see how the girls have gained a greater sense of responsibility (i.e. they worry about missing their job site if they're sick or we can't go because of a schedule change- "But they need us to bag the bread!"). They take their job seriously, but we still manage to squeeze in some fun!
Whole Year Job Site at Rivertown Family Chiropractic: Lizzie
Lizzie goes to Rivertown Family Chiropractic office three times a week. Typically she will shred paper for them (they always have A LOT!!!). Sometimes she will also do various cleaning jobs around the building.
1st Semester Job Site at Family Fare: Grant and Pierce
Grant and Pierce go to Family Fare once a week for their job site. They typically will sweep the outside sidewalk and entryways, and empty the trash and replace the old garbage bags with new ones. They have also become in charge of the the "walk-offs" cart. This cart is filled with items that people decide they don't want while checking out, so the cashier will take them and put them in the "walk-off" cart. Grant and Pierce's job is to take the cart and walk around the store and return the items to their proper place in the aisles.
1st Semester Job Site at Steenstra's Royal Dutch Bakery: Mykaela and Olivia
Olivia and Mykaela go to Steenstra's Royal Dutch bakery once a week. They have done a wide variety of things! In the pictures below you will see them frosting cookies and muffins, making fudge cakes, bagging bread to be delivered to restaurants, and wrapping banquet rolls.
